The best of the best

This is the H Squat equivalent to a leg press. You will need a ton of plates, but my god does this thing blow every other belt squat out of the water.

Incredible Machine, but need lots of weights

This machine is incredible. I have used it at my local gym. I currently have an injury that prevents me from doing back squat, this is by far the best alternative to a back squat. The only downside is that the leverages are pretty insane.. for example, I can high bar squat 500lbs. With this machine, I can easily do 6 45lbs plates (on each side) for 10+ reps. If you have a strong squat, you'll need to make sure you have enough plates to use for this belt squat, and also that the plates are skinny enough to stack on each side.

Incredible

Military guy here! Fortunately I was able to use the pit shark on some deployments!! Absolute game changer. A little out of my price range for home but I am going to talk with my home gym to see if they’d pick one up. Very good tool to use without the strain on your back with normal squatting. Completely amazed with results.

Pitshark

I did a lot of research before purchasing. I saw a lot of complaints about belt squats simply because of the belts. This one does not wrap all around the legs. It sits on hips and there isn’t pain. This or the functional trainer is the best purchase in my gym

Great machine - arrived undamaged and unscratched

Great addition to my gym - I was very happy with the care they took in packaging the piece of equipment - i have ordered and received other pieces from different suppliers and have I have had bad experiences with the equipment not being properly shipped and arriving damaged and there is no recourse. This machine was carefully wrapped and bolted properly to the shipping skid and arrived without a scratch! Good job.

This physician knows this is the BEST!

For over 25 years I’ve had the privilege of being professionally trained and have been bodybuilding and powerlifting for most of that time as well. Now in my mid-50s and has a spinal pain physician specialist myself, I have had my share of disc and spinal related low back problems. Then friends who are experts at the Virginia High performance Center introduced me to this machine. Bottom line is that this machine safely and effectively trains every muscle group that the traditional squat, dead lift does. If do you have any problems with spinal loading induced back pain, knee pain, hip pain obviously see your doctor but I have personally found at this machine has been the best alternative for squatting and dead lifting if you either have Low back, knee, hip issues or want to avoid them. FYI, I have to officially state that this post does not represent any specific medical advice whatsoever. Consult your own physician for any issues regarding your selves. It sucks that I have to say that in these days but I do.

Trainers perspective!

As a private trainer on my island it’s been practicing for 25 years I know a great piece of equipment when I use one. I purchased the picture roughly 2 weeks ago and handed down it’s one of the best pieces of equipment that I’ve purchased in my 25 years in the business. Initially I purchased the picture to perform belt squats for myself and my clientele. So far I find that the belt pinches a little bit in the hip flexor but as I can see so far that’s the only thing that limits this machine. That being said the unit has a lot of versatility when it comes to doing a lat, Upper back and trap training. Machine is beautiful and extremely well constructed. Those that have the space it’s a wise investment.

Pit Shark - Body Weight / Weight Loaded Movements (2024)

FAQs

Is the pit shark a good machine? ›

The stationary nature of the pit shark squat creates better stability in comparison to a barbell squat, as you're able to hold yourself steady on the machine for control throughout the movement. Also, the fact that the weight is closer to the ground makes it easier to balance due to the lower center of gravity.

What is the difference between pit shark and Rhino belt squat? ›

In the Pit Shark design, the weight is added laterally, similar to a barbell, in front of the lever arm. The Monster Rhino belt squat (stand-alone version) uses a cable attachment in which the athlete attaches to a single carabiner at the end of a cable extruding from the middle of the platform (Figure 3).

What are the muscles of the shark? ›

Like other fish, sharks often have two types of muscle tissue, red and white (somewhat like dark and light meat on a turkey). Red muscle contains a high concentration of myoglobin, and can store a lot of oxygen. It is used for sustained swimming over long distances.

Are belt squats better than barbell squats? ›

When you squat with a barbell on your back, your entire body bears the load— which is great for building core strength and capitalizing on compound movements. But with a belt squat machine, you can isolate those quadriceps, glutes, calves, and hammies like a pro.

Is it better to squat beltless? ›

While weightlifting belts can enhance performance, training without one enhances a lifter's innate capacity to generate and control intra-abdominal pressure. This improved ability translates into more effective belted training sessions, ultimately optimizing performance and safety.

Why is squatting with a belt easier? ›

Wearing a squat belt reduces low back stress by contracting the abdominal cavity. This leads to an increase in intra-abdominal pressure and supports the front lower back bones.

What muscles are shark gills? ›

SHARK GILLS, AKA THE SERRATUS ANTERIOR, ARE IMPORTANT FOR AN AESTHETIC...

What does the pectoral depressor do on a shark? ›

This muscle extends distally to approximately one-third of the length of the radials. The anterior component (dpe 1) may function to rotate the pectoral fin anteriorly, whereas the posterior component (dpe 2) may function to depress the pectoral fin (Fig. 6B).

What muscles does the belt squat work? ›

Belt squats are an excellent workout for targeting the quadriceps and growing large leg muscles. As the load is held by the hips instead of the spine as in back or front squats, it can be done without causing back strain. This is an ideal way to increase training intensity and volume without risking injury.
