This easy keto garlic naan bread recipe is made with coconut flour and psyllium husk powder, making a great side dish to your vegetarian curry. At just 3g net carbs a bread it's great for a keto diet.

The bread puffs up slightly when cooking just like the real thing but is cooked on the stove top and not baked. It's also gluten-free and egg free. Without the garlic butter you have a vegan naan bread.

This flat bread can also be used as a wrap or even a low carb pizza base.

This low carb naan bread recipe was inspired by my coconut flour flatbread recipe on Divalicious recipes. This bread recipe has no mozzarella cheese, yogurt or eggs making it a great vegan option too.

Is Naan Bread High in Carbs?

Traditional naan bread is made with wheat flour, yeast and sugar and can have up to 45g net carbohydrates a piece. Although restaurant naan bread is usually larger than the ones in this recipe.

This low carb naan bread recipe is just 3g net carbs a serving.

Is Coconut Flour Keto?

Coconut flour is a great keto flour and one of my favourites to bake with, either savory or sweet. It's high in fiber and a serving of 100g has just 7g net carbs.

Keto Naan Ingredients

Just a handful of keto pantry ingredients make this easy naan recipe. If you don't want a garlic naan, omit the garlic butter.

  • Psyllium Husk Powder - brands can vary and some may give a purple color to any low carb bread. We use the Now brand that has kept it's colour in baking.
  • Coconut Oil - this can be swapped with melted butter or Ghee.

Making the Dough

Making a low carb naan dough is quick and easy.

Add the coconut oil and stir through to combine.

Shaping and Cooking the Naan Bread

Once the dough has rested and the psyllium husk powder worked it's magic by giving you a pliable dough, it's time to make the naan bread. We make small breads as they are very filling but you can increase their size.

Variations

Just with a regular naan bread recipe you can made a few variations. This does not have to be garlic. Try these suggestions:

  • Cilantro - add freshly chopped cilantro to the dough.
  • Paneer - use the dough to make a panner naan.
  • Chili Cheese- Sprinkle chopped chili and grated cheese on top, then place under the grill.

Storage & Freezing

Keep the bread in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat on the store or pop into the air fryer if the bread becomes too soft.

Keto Naan Bread Top tip

Grind the psyllium husk powder through the coffee grinder to make it extra fine to remove any of the "gritty" taste psyllium can sometimes have.

What to serve with Coconut Flour Naan

We could snack on this garlic naan but itself but serve it with our Paneer Makhani, Mushroom Bhaji or as a side with a bowl of Cauliflower Curry Soup.

FAQ

Can these breads be frozen?

They freeze well, but without the garlic butter topping. Place a square of parchment paper between each bread to prevent sticking and place them in a ziplock bag.
Defrost at room temperature before use.

Can you make these with almond flour?

We have not tried this recipe with almond flour but the result may be flatter. Try an addition of protein powder or xanthan gum to the mixture and let us know how it works out if you try it.

Hi! These look so great. Would ground linseed work the same as psyllium husk? Thanks!
